Teeter FitSpine X1, X3 or LX9? Differences and Model Comparison

In photos, the Teeter FitSpine X1, X3 and LX9 look almost identical: the same A-shaped frame, the same bed, the same distinctive main shaft with the ankle lock. The differences are in the details - and those details decide how comfortable the table is to use every day. In this article we break down the Teeter FitSpine series: what all three models have in common, how the Teeter X1 differs from the X3, whether it is worth paying more for the flagship Teeter LX9, and where the classic EP-560 table fits into the lineup. You will find a full comparison table, dimensions, what is included and specific buying scenarios - so that after reading you know which model is right for you without having to call us (although of course you always can).

How do the Teeter FitSpine X1, X3 and LX9 differ, in short?

If you only have a minute, here is the shortest answer:

  • FitSpine X1 - FlexTech bed with 8-point suspension, T-pin ankle lock, adjustable Angle Tether strap. The entry model of the series.
  • FitSpine X3 - everything in the X1, but with the Deluxe EZ-Reach ankle lock (locking without bending down), Stretch Max handles and EZ-Stretch traction handles, and the EZ-Angle Tether limiter with markings at 20°, 40° and 60°. The most popular model.
  • FitSpine LX9 - everything in the X3, plus the curved LX frame with thicker tubing, a raised step-up platform and the Storage Caddy. The flagship model.

So each model is the previous one plus specific conveniences. The question is not "which one is better," but "which of these conveniences do you need." We answer that in the following sections.

What do all Teeter FitSpine tables have in common?

Before we get to the differences, it is worth knowing what you do not need to compare - because it is identical on the X1, X3 and LX9:

  • FlexTech bed - a firm, smooth surface along which your body moves freely as you lean back.
  • 8-point suspension - the bed "floats" above the frame and flexes with your body during bends and twists.
  • Lumbar bridge - adjustable and removable, supports the lower back during a session.
  • Acupressure nodes - 4 pairs of varying firmness, attached at chosen points on the bed and removable.
  • Grip-and-Stretch handles built into the bed and frame.
  • Ergo-Embrace ankle cushions made of soft foam and the Ankle Comfort Dial with a high or low setting.
  • Roller hinge with 3 settings - for balancing the table and choosing the rotation speed.
  • Full inversion with a lock - with the limiter unhooked, the table can be "locked" in the inverted position (90°).
  • Tool-free folding.
  • User range: height 142-198 cm, weight up to 136 kg.
  • Construction: welded, powder-coated steel, fasteners made of heat-treated steel.
  • UL safety certification - tested with a 4x strength margin (about 544 kg with a user limit of 136 kg).
  • Medical device status with CE marking and a 5-year warranty.

In other words: the core of the table - the bed and the way your body rests on it - is the same on all three models. The differences concern ease of use - locking your feet, setting the angle, gripping while stretching and getting on the table.

Teeter X1 vs X3 - how do they differ?

This is the comparison you ask us about most often. The Teeter FitSpine X1 and Teeter FitSpine X3 have identical dimensions and the same bed. They differ in four elements.

Ankle lock: T-pin or Deluxe EZ-Reach

This is the biggest difference in everyday use. On the X1, your feet are secured by a T-pin lock - spring-loaded, with a T-shaped handle. You can hear and see it click into place, and the mechanism itself is simple. To operate it, however, you have to reach down toward your feet.

The X3 has the Deluxe EZ-Reach lock with an extended handle and a micro-adjustable ratchet. According to the manual: you place your ankles between the front and rear cushions, then pull the EZ-Reach handle toward your legs and release it when the cushions fit snugly against the narrowest part of your ankles. To release the lock, press the blue button on the handle and push the lever away. All without bending down. The lock has an additional gravity-activated latch, and its components are made of aircraft-grade steel.

The micro-adjustment also matters for comfort: the manual points out that there should be no gap between the cushions and your ankles, as this reduces body movement along the bed during inversion.

Stretch Max and EZ-Stretch handles

The X1 has Stretch Assist handles on the frame with a large grip area and an embossed inversion angle scale - they help when leaning back and returning upright.

In their place, the X3 has long, sturdy Stretch Max handles integrated into the frame, which provide support and allow additional stretching at any angle. On top of that come the EZ-Stretch traction handles - the manufacturer describes them as "three-in-one": additional stretching at lower angles, rhythmic rocking and an easier return from full inversion.

Angle limiter: Angle Tether or EZ-Angle Tether

Both models have a strap that limits the rotation angle, attached under the bed. On the X1 it is the adjustable Angle Tether - you slide the buckle to lengthen or shorten the strap and check the result.

The X3 has the EZ-Angle Tether with embroidered markings: 20° (green), 40° (orange) and 60° (red). Just slide the buckle so that its center lines up with the chosen color. Since the manual recommends using an angle of 20-30° for the first weeks and increasing it gradually, a clear scale makes it easier to follow this recommendation - especially when several people use the table.

Frame and weight

Both models have a straight welded steel frame, but the X3 uses larger-diameter tubing. Table weight: X1 - 27.4 kg, X3 - 29.9 kg. Dimensions in use and folded are identical.

X1 or X3 - summary

If bending down to your feet is not a problem for you and you do not plan to use the stretching handles, the X1 gives you the same bed and the same inversion capabilities. If you want to lock your feet without bending down, set the angle by a scale and have more grip points - choose the X3. In practice, it is the EZ-Reach lock that makes most of our customers choose the X3.

Teeter X3 vs LX9 - is the LX9 worth the extra cost?

The Teeter FitSpine LX9 has everything the X3 has: the FlexTech bed with 8-point suspension, the Deluxe EZ-Reach lock, Stretch Max and EZ-Stretch handles, the EZ-Angle 20/40/60° limiter, the lumbar bridge and acupressure nodes. The differences concern the frame and extras. On the LX9, the EZ-Stretch traction handles are integrated with the 3-hole roller hinges - they work the same way as on the X3: additional stretching at lower angles, rhythmic rocking and an easier return from full inversion.

Ergonomic LX frame

The LX9 has a curved LX frame with larger-diameter tubing. The shape of the frame makes it easier to get on and off the table. The frame is also wider: 81.2 cm compared with 73.2 cm on the X3.

Raised step-up platform

Between the legs of the LX9 frame there is a step-up platform. Standing on it makes it easier to place your feet in the ankle lock. The LX9 manual describes getting on like this: stand with your back to the bed, use the handles for stability, step into the frame and place one ankle at a time between the cushions. The platform and the handles on both sides make this movement more comfortable.

Storage Caddy

The Storage Caddy attaches to the left handle of the LX9 - a place for a bottle, a phone and the acupressure nodes, with a node holder. A small thing, but practical for daily sessions.

Dimensions and weight

The LX9 is the heaviest in the series - 33.4 kg (X3: 29.9 kg). In use it measures 207.4 x 81.2 x 219.6 cm, and folded 56.1 x 81.2 x 171.1 cm. The folded LX9 can be stood upright without tools - keeping in mind the recommendation to leave the frame legs spread 16-20 inches (approx. 40-50 cm) apart or secure it against a wall, and to store it flat on the floor if there are children in the home.

X3 or LX9 - summary

If getting on the table and placing your feet in the lock is difficult for you, or you want all your accessories at hand, the LX9 is a choice you will notice in every session. If your space is limited in width or these conveniences are not a priority for you, the X3 offers the same inversion and stretching features in a narrower and lighter design.

Teeter EP-560 - where does it fit compared with the FitSpine series?

The Teeter EP-560 is the most popular model in the ComforTrak series. In terms of features it corresponds to the FitSpine X1: it has a T-pin ankle lock with Ergo-Embrace cushions, the Ankle Comfort Dial, the adjustable Angle Tether strap, Grip-and-Stretch and Stretch Assist handles, a lumbar bridge, 4 pairs of acupressure nodes, a roller hinge with 3 settings and full inversion with a lock.

The difference is the bed. Instead of FlexTech with 8-point suspension, it has a ComforTrak bed - a firm, flexible surface with a patented "track" guide that lets the body glide smoothly along the bed, while the bed itself flexes slightly for comfort.

The EP-560 is the lightest of the four (26.7 kg), and in use it measures 213.4 x 73.2 x 218.4 cm - so it is slightly longer than the FitSpine models. Folded, it takes up the same space as the X1 and X3. It is a good choice for people who want to start with a classic, proven design. The whole series is in the EP series inversion tables category.

Which Teeter model to choose? Real-life scenarios

Below are the situations we hear about most often from customers, and the model we usually recommend for each.

"I just want to get started and do not need extras"

Choose the FitSpine X1 if you want the FlexTech bed, or the EP-560 if you prefer the classic ComforTrak bed. Both models have full inversion with a lock, a roller hinge with 3 settings, a lumbar bridge and acupressure nodes.

"I do not want to bend down to my feet"

Choose the FitSpine X3. The Deluxe EZ-Reach lock with an extended handle is the most important difference from the X1 and the most common reason for choosing this model.

"Several people will use the table"

Consider the X3 or LX9. Each user has to adjust their own settings before a session, and the 20°, 40° and 60° markings on the EZ-Angle Tether and the micro-adjustment of the EZ-Reach lock make it easier to quickly readjust the table. Remember that all users must be within the range of 142-198 cm and 136 kg.

"Getting on the table is the hardest part for me"

Choose the FitSpine LX9. The curved LX frame and the raised step-up platform are designed precisely to make getting on, placing your feet in the lock and getting off easier.

"I want to stretch using the handles"

Choose the X3 or LX9. The Stretch Max handles provide support at any angle, and the EZ-Stretch traction handles allow additional stretching at lower angles and rhythmic rocking. Remember that the manual prohibits sudden movements, weights and resistance bands on the table.

"I do not have much space"

The EP-560, X1 and X3 are 73.2 cm wide and 50.8 cm deep when folded. The LX9 is wider (81.2 cm) and 56.1 cm deep when folded.

Is the X1, X3 and LX9 operated differently?

In the basics - no. The Teeter manual describes the same four user settings for all models, which have to be adjusted before each use:

  • Main shaft height - according to the height scale; to start, about 2.5 cm more than your height (e.g. at 178 cm you set 180 cm), then adjust after the balance test.
  • Roller hinge hole - three settings, chosen according to body weight and the desired rotation speed.
  • Angle limiter - the Angle Tether on the X1 and EP-560, or the EZ-Angle Tether with markings at 20°, 40° and 60° on the X3 and LX9.
  • Ankle Comfort Dial - a high or low foot support setting, so that the cushions hold the narrowest part of your ankles.

The balance test, rotating into inversion, returning upright and folding also work the same way. What differs is how you lock your feet (T-pin or Deluxe EZ-Reach) and how you set the angle (by feel or by the color scale). On the LX9, there is also getting on via the platform between the frame legs. So if you ever switch from one model to another, you do not have to learn how to use it all over again.

Is the Teeter FitSpine a medical device?

Yes. The FitSpine X1, X3, LX9 and EP-560 tables are CE-marked medical devices. The manufacturer defines them as decompression devices intended for home use, providing spinal traction with simultaneous stretching of the paraspinal muscles and soft tissues. Traction is non-powered, and the devices are intended for adults. In the US, Teeter inversion tables are registered with the FDA as medical devices (510(k)); in the EU, the device status is confirmed by the CE marking.

This is a medical device. Use it in accordance with the instructions for use or the label. Before first use, read the contraindications described in the manual - the manufacturer recommends not using the table without a doctor's approval.
